We are delighted to offer VIP Stable Tours of Farncombe Down Stables here in Lambourn home of Group 1 winning trainer Owen Burrows. After an incredibly successful period as private trainer to the late HH Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and latterly his daughter Sheikha Hissa, Owen is delighted to welcome visitors to his spectacular stables to view the horses and the amazing facilities. This is a wonderful opportunity for the horse racing enthusiast to go behind the scenes and experience a once in a lifetime opportunity.

 

VIP TOUR ITINERARY

Meet at the 4 star Pheasant Inn just off the M4 motorway at nearby Shefford Woodlands  at 8am for breakfast where you will be joined by your tour host Roger Hart who will outline the morning ahead. For those travelling a long distance the Pheasant Inn can offer accommodation on the night before your tour.

 

Depart from the hotel at 9am for the short journey to Farncombe Down Stables where your VIP tour begins. Watch as the horses are saddled up and prepared for 2nd lot and then warm up in the indoor school.. You are then driven out onto the gallops to watch them work, this can be on the 6 furlong All Weather gallop, the 1 mile Woodchip gallop or one of the many grass gallops Owen has available. You will be standing alongside Owen as he watches the work and hear the exchanges between rider and trainer. You could be visiting on a morning where we are joined by top jockeys riding work.

 

You will then return to the yard and get to see a horse on the treadmill, in the salt water spa and get close up and personal with the horses, meeting the staff and seeing at first hand how a Group 1 winning yard operates.

 

Your tour ends with a visit to the Owners suite where you could be joined by Owen himself to enjoy light refreshments.
