May & June Round-Up: A Strong Start to the Summer

The last two months have provided plenty of encouragement at Owen Burrows Racing, with eight winners, black-type success in France, and several high-class performances on some of the biggest stages of the season.

May Highlights

Highlights in May included Alfred Boucher, who proved his enthusiasm for the game remains as strong as ever with victory at Salisbury as a 10-year-old. Heyzoom broke his maiden at Newbury before the stable enjoyed an across-the-card double courtesy of Escape Magic at Leicester and Ascending Star at Lingfield.

There was also an excellent black-type performance from Waardah, who finished a highly creditable second in the Group 3 Lester Piggott Fillies' Stakes at Carlisle on her seasonal reappearance.

June Success

June brought another four winners, including a prestigious Pattern race success in France.

Nanino Niyati opened the month's account with victory at Newbury before exciting two-year-old Gymbaazy made a hugely impressive winning debut at Sandown, looking every inch a colt with a bright future ahead.

Sticktoyourguns followed up with victory at Sandown before Remmooz produced the standout performance of the month by landing the Group 3 Prix Bertrand du Breuil at Chantilly, giving the yard another valuable international success. 

Big-Race Performances

Beyond the winners, the team also enjoyed several notable performances on racing's biggest stages.

At Royal Ascot, Touleen ran a tremendous race to finish second in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, producing a career-best effort against some of Europe's leading three-year-old fillies.

Just over a week later, Raaheeb finished a highly encouraging fourth in the Group 1 Irish Derby at the Curragh, suggesting there is plenty more to come as he continues to develop.

Looking Ahead

With eight winners across May and June, a Group 3 victory in France, a Royal Ascot Group 1 runner-up and another excellent Group 1 performance in Ireland, it has been a productive start to the summer for the team at Owen Burrows Racing.

As the season enters one of its busiest periods, there is plenty to look forward to, with an exciting team of horses continuing to progress and many more opportunities still to come.
